On Thursday 10th October at the bCreator™ Awards ceremony, Max Balegde was announced as the bCreator™ of the Year 2024!
Jack Edwards, a former winner of this particular award in 2022, hosted the event with fellow creator and friend Eleanor Neale.
The bCreator™ of the Year Award is the main award at the event, as it recognises the top overall creator of the year. This award takes into account the creator’s influence and impact across multiple categories, demonstrating their versatility and ability to captivate audiences across various platforms. This award is given to the creator who has made the most significant impact on the creator economy over the past year, and who has established themselves as a leader in the industry.
What does being recognised as bCreator™ of the Year mean to you on a professional level?
On a professional level, it feels incredible. I’ve had the opportunity to experience so many amazing things through my work and truly enjoy creating content to entertain people so to be recognised for that was such a brilliant feeling and has made me more excited for what’s next.
How do you manage the challenge of staying fresh and relevant in such a fast-paced industry?
I think trends, especially on TikTok, come and go so quickly that it’s almost impossible to keep up. I realised quite early on in my career that being truly and authentically yourself is the most important thing – that’s something that can’t be affected or taken away by those trends changing.
“…it feel like my followers have really been on the journey with me and we’ve almost grown up together“
– Max Balegde, bCreator™ of the Year 2024
How has your relationship with your audience evolved as your platform has grown?
I feel like it’s definitely grown over the years – I have had the opportunity to share key life moments with my audience – for example, I met my boyfriend nearly 4 years ago where I documented the whole experience and then last year we bought a house together so it feel like my followers have really been on the journey with me and we’ve almost grown up together.
What advice do you have for aspiring creators navigating authenticity and popularity?
When I first started posting, I was very conscious of how I looked, how I sounded and just generally wasn’t being authentically myself. Whereas the second I let down those walls is when opportunities started coming my way. So, whenever anyone ever asks me for advice, I always tell them the best thing you can offer is being authentically yourself.
Are there any new creative directions you’re excited to explore?
A dream I have is that I always wanted to have my own interview show – I have been lucky enough to interview some huge stars on red carpets or press junkets and these opportunities made me discover it is my passion. I’m also looking forward to some really fun opportunities in television that I have coming up and I’m incredibly excited to see if I enjoy working in that sector of the industry also.
