Izzie Rodgers – Beauty bCreator™ of the Year 2024

Izzie Rodgers won the Beauty bCreator™ of the Year Award, announced at the #BCAs Awards ceremony on the 10th October 2024. Izzie posted a powerful caption on Instagram about the win and her acceptance speech, so we’re delighted to share some more of Izzie’s online journey leading up to that moment in this Q&A…

What inspired you to pursue beauty content creation, and how has your perspective evolved over time?

Beauty has always been a deep passion of mine. But when I developed acne, I felt like I no longer belonged in the beauty space. It was isolating, as though my imperfections disqualified me from something I loved. But as my online community grew, so did my confidence. I realised that what I was experiencing was not only normal but also entirely okay. That realisation reignited my passion for beauty—stronger and more authentic than ever before.

How do you approach inclusivity in your beauty content?

I used to believe that makeup for acne always had to include foundation—that covering my skin was the only way to feel “beautiful.” But as my confidence grew, I realised that beauty isn’t about hiding; it’s about embracing who you are. This shift inspired me to create makeup looks for everyone: for girls with acne who choose not to cover it and for those who do. My makeup is about celebrating authenticity and empowering the real, radiant you to shine through.

What’s one beauty myth you love debunking for your followers?

‘If you wore less makeup your skin would be better’ – people see skin problems and automatically blame external factors when more often than not acne is problem within the body. Also, we have enough stress! If we want to wear makeup, we bloody will!

What do you think sets you apart in the beauty creator community?

I shape my beauty content around accentuating my authentic self, not hiding it.

Can you share any exciting plans or new directions for your beauty content?

I’m deeply passionate about the devastating impact of these increasingly prevalent, highly unrealistic filters on our perception of beauty.
How will a young girl—learning to master eyeliner for the first time or daring to experiment with eyeshadow—ever feel confident enough to share her work when, in just two seconds, she can apply a filter that creates a flawless, fake version of herself with perfect makeup?
These filters don’t just alter images; they undermine the authenticity and courage it takes to embrace and celebrate real, imperfect beauty. This is something I would love to focus more on.
